In a harrowing case of domestic violence, a six-month pregnant woman, Iqra, and her unborn baby lost their lives after allegedly being subjected to brutal torture by her husband in Sheikhupura.

According to the autopsy report, the 22-year-old victim suffered severe injuries, including fractures to her forehead and skull, inflicted with a rod and bricks.

Iqra, who had been married to the accused, Zohaib, only seven months ago, reportedly faced the deadly assault after she visited her mother’s house, a move that enraged her husband.

The postmortem examination revealed torture marks on at least ten parts of her body. The report further confirmed that the unborn child also died due to the violence inflicted on the mother.

Following the incident, Iqra was admitted to General Hospital, Lahore, where she fought for her life for three days before succumbing to her injuries.

Police confirmed that the accused, Zohaib, has been arrested in connection with the case. His father and uncle have been granted interim bail until July 17, but police will continue its investigation with them.

Earlier, in April, a husband and his family members allegedly tortured a pregnant woman in Muzaffargardh, leaving her severely injured and throwing her out of the house in critical condition, according to police.

The eight-month-pregnant victim was allegedly beaten with axes and rods by her husband and in-laws, resulting in multiple fractures to her arms and legs.

Following the torture, when her situation worsened, she was thrown out of the house. She was transported to the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital on the complaint of residents.
