In an alleged audio call with Shaheen Burney of Ansar Burney Trust, the captain of the ship abducted by Somali Pirates has urged the trust to press the Pakistan government to accept the demands of the abductors for the release of Pakistani sailors whom they have abducted.

The vessel Honour was seized off the coast of Somalia, a region long associated with piracy due to weak maritime enforcement and economic instability.

Somali pirate groups have historically targeted commercial ships passing through key shipping lanes in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden, often holding crews hostage in exchange for ransom.

The call, reportedly over nine minutes long, includes the captain asking whether images of the hostages were received and stressing the urgency of negotiations.

He claims that other countries are actively negotiating for their citizens, while Pakistan’s response has been slower.

In response, the trust representative appeals to the pirates to treat the hostages humanely and says efforts are ongoing to engage authorities for their release.

The captain also emphasizes that the pirates are primarily demanding money and warns that the sailors are running low on food and medical supplies, making the situation increasingly critical.
