The people of Karachi continue to suffer from deadly traffic accidents, as a speeding dumper truck ran over two young men on Memon Goth road on Monday, leaving one dead and another critically injured.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Shah Noor, son of Gulab, while the injured youth, Shah Nawaz, son of Mola Bux, was shifted to a hospital for medical attention.

Both the deceased and the injured were residents of Durr Muhammad Goth in Malir.

Karachi has continued to grapple with a high number of road accidents this year, many of which turned deadly and, at times, triggered violent reactions from citizens, including the burning of vehicles involved.

According to police data up to August 2025, at least 536 people have lost their lives in traffic mishaps across the city. Among them, 60 deaths were linked to truck accidents, while dumpers were involved in incidents that claimed 20 lives.

Water tankers caused 44 fatalities, and six people were killed in accidents involving oil tankers.

The figures further show that 15 people died in van-related crashes, five in jeep accidents, and 58 in car collisions. Of the overall fatalities, 51 were women.
