A disturbing case of alleged abuse of authority has surfaced in Lahore, where an official of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) is accused of sexually exploiting a poor woman in exchange for correcting her electricity bill amounting to Rs18,000.
The incident came to light after a private news channel aired footage during a programme hosted by Iqrarul Hassan, showing the anchor confronting the accused official in the presence of the victim.
According to the woman, the LESCO official allegedly demanded a physical relationship as a condition for rectifying the inflated bill.
She stated that the official contacted her through video calls and made indecent demands, which she recorded as evidence.
The woman further claimed that she was called to a guest house on two occasions under the pretext of resolving the billing issue. In the video aired by the channel, the suspect can also be seen seeking forgiveness from the victim for his conduct.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage on social media, with users demanding strict legal action against the accused and calling for institutional reforms within the electricity department to prevent such abuse.
Several users highlighted that the incident occurred in Punjab’s capital, raising concerns about governance and accountability under the provincial administration led by Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
