Former South African captain and cricketing legend AB de Villiers has criticised the Indian cricket team for what he described as unsportsmanlike behaviour during the Asia Cup.
Speaking on a social media video programme, de Villiers urged that regional politics should remain separate from the sporting arena.
He noted that the Indian players appeared displeased with the individual who presented the trophy, but emphasised that such matters should not interfere with the spirit of the game.
“It was disappointing to see what happened at the closing ceremony of the Asia Cup,” de Villiers said. “I don’t think this has anything to do with cricket. I hope the issue is resolved soon because situations like these put both the game and the players in a difficult position. I hate seeing such things.”
