Arshad Nadeem steals show with gold medal at National Games

Star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem stole the show at the 35th National Games on Monday as he clinched the gold medal in the javelin throw event.
Arshad Nadeem, who represented Wapda, dominated the competition with a best throw of 81.81 metres, finishing well ahead of his rivals and reaffirming his status as the country’s top javelin thrower.
His closest challenger, Yasir Sultan, also from Wapda and a silver medallist at the Islamic Solidarity Games, secured second place with a throw of 70.77 metres, earning the silver medal.
Mohammad Abrar of Pakistan Army finished third, winning bronze with a throw of 68.67 metres.

Arshad Nadeem’s victory marks a successful defence of the gold medal he won at the previous edition of the National Games in Quetta, where he topped the event with a throw of 78.01 metres.
The Olympian has already qualified for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, and his performance in the National Games further solidified his preparations. Sixteen athletes competed in the opening stage of the javelin event, with the top eight advancing to the final round.
Nadeem showed consistency throughout his attempts, recording 78.40 metres on his first throw and 77.77 metres on his second before unleashing his winning 81.81-metre throw on the third attempt, sealing yet another national triumph.
