Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has achieved another milestone by breaking Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma’s world record for the most runs scored in T20 Internationals.
Babar accomplished the feat during the second T20I against South Africa in Lahore. Sharma had amassed a total of 4,231 runs in 159 matches, while Babar needed only nine runs to surpass him before the match.
The former Pakistan captain reached the milestone after scoring his ninth run in the innings, becoming the leading run-scorer in T20I history.
Babar’s return to the national T20 squad came after nearly a year-long gap. He was dropped from the format following Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the 2025 Asia Cup but was recalled for the home series against South Africa.
