Star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his retirement plans after setting the record for the most international victories in men's football.
Portugal triumphed over Poland 5-1, with Ronaldo netting two goals, one of which was a spectacular bicycle kick, securing a place in the UEFA Nations League quarterfinals.
The win marked his 132nd international victory, surpassing his former Real Madrid teammate Sergio Ramos, who has 131 with Spain.
In a post-match interview, the 39-year-old Ronaldo highlighted his desire to enjoy football, even with the looming idea of retirement.
“I just want to enjoy myself,” he remarked. “Regarding retirement, if it occurs, it could be in a year or two… I’m uncertain. I’ll soon be turning 40.”
He stated that he will keep playing as long as he remains motivated. “The moment I lose that motivation, I will retire,” he said.
Ronaldo also indicated that he does not intend to pursue a coaching role after he retires. “I don’t envision myself managing a team; that’s not part of my plans,” he expressed.
“My future will lie in other fields outside of football, but time will tell what happens.”
