Former Bangladesh Captain Tamim Iqbal hospitalised after suffering heart attack during match

Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal was rushed to the hospital on Monday morning after suffering a serious heart attack while playing in the Dhaka Premier Division League.
According to Bangladeshi media, Tamim, who was representing Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shinepukur Cricket Club, complained of chest pain during the first innings. He was immediately taken off the field for a medical check-up.
Initially, plans were made to transport Tamim to Dhaka by air, but due to logistical issues, he was instead taken to Fazilatunnesa Hospital in Savar, where doctors confirmed he had suffered a severe cardiac arrest.

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) chief physician, Dr Debashish Chowdhury, stated that Tamim remains under medical supervision as doctors work to stabilise his condition. However, his condition has improved compared to earlier, according to the BCB medical officer.
Following the incident, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cancelled its scheduled meeting for the day, with officials visiting the hospital to check on Tamim’s condition. The team management has also appealed to the public for prayers for his speedy recovery.
The news sent shockwaves through Bangladesh’s cricket fraternity, given Tamim’s pivotal role in the sport. Fans, fellow cricketers, and well-wishers extended their support, while his family rushed to be by his side.
Tamim Iqbal, who has been a key figure in Bangladesh cricket, represented his country in 391 international matches from 2007 to 2023.
