Pakistan lost half of its wickets for just 16 runs while chasing a target of 94, set by Australia in the first match of the T20I series on Thursday, resulting in a win for the Kangaroos.
After the toss, Pakistan opted to field first and Australia played the first inning of the rain-affected seven-over match at the Gabba Cricket Ground and scored 93 runs with a loss of four wickets.
The Green Shirts struggled against Australia’s aggressive bowling in the second innings, with Sahibzada Farhan losing his wicket in the first over after hitting two boundaries.
Subsequently, skipper Rizwan lost his wicket on the second bowl of the second over by Johnson. Similarly, star batters Babar Azam and Usman Khan also returned to the pavilion after scoring 3 and 4 runs, respectively.
Pakistan fell short by 30 runs in their chase, handing Australia the first win of the series.
The match was delayed due to the lightning and persistent rain in Brisbane. Hence, 20-over fixture was shorted to seven overs, which means two bowlers can bowl a maximum of three overs, and no other bowlers allowed more than one over. The power play limited to two overs.
