In the second match of the three-match ODI series, Australia opted to bat first against Pakistan and scored a meager 164-run target for the loss of 9 wickets as the Green Shirts dismantled the Australian batting lineup with relentless bowling performance
Australia’s innings opened with Jack Fraser-McGeorge and Matthew Short at the Adelaide Oval Stadium, but both were dismissed early by Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Fraser-McGeorge was caught after scoring 13, while Short was trapped lbw by Afridi.
Josh Inglis became the third Australian player dismissed, scoring 18 runs before falling to Haris Rauf.
Mohammad Hasnain caught Steve Smith behind the stumps for 35, and Haris also claimed the wickets of Aaron Hardie and Glenn Maxwell. Naseem Shah bowled Mitchell Starc, while Australian captain Pat Cummins was taken down as Haris Rauf's fifth wicket.
After winning the toss, Rizwan confirmed that Pakistan retained the same lineup from the first ODI with no changes in the playing XI.
Australian captain Pat Cummins commented that they would have also opted to bowl first if they had won the toss and confirmed that Australia had retained the same lineup that secured victory in the first ODI.
In the first match of the ODI series, Australia triumphed over Pakistan by two wickets in a closely contested game.
