The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) management held an emergency meeting in which it was decided to suspend the tournament due to rising tensions with Pakistan, according to Indian media reports.
The situation intensified on May 8 when a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was abruptly canceled midway due to a sudden blackout at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.
The floodlights went out unexpectedly, plunging the venue into darkness for nearly 15 minutes before the match was officially called off.

Following the incident, authorities swiftly evacuated the stadium as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, several foreign players participating in the IPL tournament expressed serious concerns about their safety and are exploring options to return to their home countries as soon as possible.
Even a major sports event like the IPL has not remained untouched by Prime Minister Modi’s intensifying warmongering. There are growing indications that the remaining matches of the tournament may be postponed or relocated in light of the security situation.
