Former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke has undergone another skin cancer surgery, sharing the update on social media and urging the public to prioritise regular health check-ups.
The 44-year-old posted a photo from a hospital bed with a bandage on his nose, writing: “Skin cancer is real! Especially in Australia. Another one cut out of my nose today. A friendly reminder to get your skin checked.”
Clarke emphasised the importance of early detection: “Prevention is better than cure but in my case, regular check-ups and early detection is key.” He also thanked his surgeon, saying he was “so grateful that Dr. Bish Soliman got it early.”
First diagnosed in 2006, Clarke has undergone several treatments over the years and frequently uses his platform to raise awareness about skin cancer. In 2023, he admitted his recurring health scares have made him fearful, especially for his daughter, Kelsey Lee.
“I am a dad – I don’t want to go anywhere,” he told the Daily Telegraph. “The most important thing is helping my daughter and setting a good example.”
Clarke remains one of Australia’s most celebrated cricketers, having captained the national team to both an Ashes whitewash and a World Cup victory.
