Former cricketer Moin Khan expressed his disapproval of Pakistani players being overly friendly with Indian cricketers during matches. He emphasised that such gestures on the field diminish the aggression and competitive spirit needed to challenge the rival team effectively.
In a recent interview, Moin Khan said, “I feel sad seeing this. I have respectful relationships with Indian players, but there was a time when our team dominated India. Back then, senior players and captains strictly forbade us from even talking to the opposition during matches.”
He explained that maintaining a certain distance creates psychological pressure on the rival team.
“If you’re too friendly with someone, they won’t take you seriously, and you might start to see yourself as mentally weaker,” he added.

The former wicketkeeper-batter shared that, while they had good relationships with Indian players off the field, it never interfered with their conduct during matches.
“In our time, we didn’t check their bats or pose for selfies on the field. Our players today unintentionally send a negative message with such behavior,” he maintained.

Moin Khan also revealed that whenever he has held a coaching or managerial position, he has consistently advised players against adopting this attitude.
“Even Wasim Akram feels the same way about this behavior. I have never seen players like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, or Shoaib Akhtar joking around with Indian cricketers on the field or engaging in unnecessary camaraderie.”
