Disappointment for Pakistan continued in the Paris Olympics 2024 as three out of seven athletes failed to win any medals for the country.

On the second day of the games, Pakistani swimmers Ahmed Durrani and Jehanara Nabi failed to qualify for the next round.

18-year-old Durrani took 1:58.67 minutes to complete 200m freestyle swimming, which was far from the best.

“It means a lot to me that I got to perform at the Olympics, it really was a dream come true,” the swimmer said.

“The closest way I could explain to you is that it was like time goes slowly, and I could feel the blood rushing to my head, it was a good feeling."

Similarly, 16-year-old Jehanara Nabi, in the 200m freestyle women’s event, secured 26th place out of 30 swimmers as she failed to manage the clock to her best time.

On day 1, Pakistani shooter Gulfam Joseph failed to reach the final of the men’s.

Joseph managed to fire 571 shorts across five series, falling from 6 short of the qualification threshold of 577.

He picked 22nd position out of 33 shooters participating in the event.

Pakistan’s Kashmala Talat also lost women’s 10m air pistol event. Talat finished in 31st place on her Olympic debut with a final score of 567.

Earlier this year, the 22-year-old female shooter became the first Pakistani woman to directly qualify for the Olympics after clinching silver at the 2024 Asian Shooting Championships.

Talat’s third and final event in Paris will be the 25m Pistol Women’s qualification round.
