The International Cricket Council (ICC), along with the cricket boards of Pakistan and India, finalised an agreement for the 2025 Champions Trophy, as per reports.
Pakistan will host the tournament, but high-stakes matches between Pakistan and India are likely to take place at neutral venues.
According to sources, the tournament is expected to follow Pakistan’s "fusion model," where 10 matches, including the final (if India doesn’t qualify), will be held in Pakistan, while India will play its matches in Dubai.
The semi-final and final will also be hosted in Dubai if India qualifies.
The agreement, facilitated by ICC Chairman Jay Shah and PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi, marks a significant step towards resolving tensions. However, Pakistan seeks documented guarantees to finalize pending issues, including India’s assurance to participate.
The breakthrough, which emerged during ICC meetings in Dubai, may be formally announced on December 7.
This model also ensures the two teams will not play in each other’s countries for the next three years. Pakistani officials are optimistic but insist on waiting for further progress.
