Pakistan footballer Abdullah Iqbal has become the first active player from the Pakistan national team to feature in the UEFA Champions League.
Abdullah Iqbal made his debut in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds, representing Swedish club Mjällby AIF against Lincoln Red Imps.
The Pakistani defender came on as a substitute in the 62nd minute of the match, marking a historic moment for Pakistan football.
With this appearance, Abdullah Iqbal earned the distinction of becoming the first current Pakistan international to play in the prestigious European competition.
Pakistani-origin player Itzaz Hussain had previously featured in UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds before representing Pakistan internationally.
Similarly, Pakistani-origin footballer Ghayas Zahid also played in the UEFA Champions League for APOEL, but he did not represent the Pakistan national team.
