Pakistani rowers shine with 14 medals, including 10 golds at Asian championship

Pakistan’s rowing team delivered an exceptional performance at the Asian Indoor Rowing Championship held in Pattaya, Thailand, from May 26 to 31, securing a total of 14 medals, including 10 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze.
Competing against top athletes from across the continent, Pakistan’s 20-member squad participated in various categories, including Masters, Under-23, and Open divisions. Their outstanding display of strength and technique earned them a third-place overall finish, with host nation Thailand dominating the competition and India taking second place.
Among the standout performers, Asad Ali emerged as a star of the event, clinching five gold medals through a series of impressive races.

Wali Khan followed with two golds to his name, while Abdul Jabbar and Muhammad Shahzad each added a gold and a silver to the tally. Tayyab Iftikhar also contributed notably with one gold and one silver medal.
The championship, held in the picturesque coastal city of Pattaya, was lauded for its high level of organisation and drew elite indoor rowing talent from across Asia. Pakistan’s athletes received widespread praise for their commitment and discipline, signalling a bright future for the sport in the country.
