The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering plans to develop a cricket stadium in Saudi Arabia that could host future matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), according to reports.

Sources said the PCB has received initial approval from its governing board to explore the project, although detailed discussions and a final agreement are still pending.

The proposed venue is expected to be built in Jeddah as part of efforts to expand cricket beyond Pakistan. Interest in the sport has grown in the Kingdom in recent years, prompting authorities to explore new opportunities.

Reports suggest the PCB has approved an expression of interest to collaborate with the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation (SACF) on the development of the stadium. The proposal was discussed during a recent board meeting in Lahore.

If finalised, the stadium could host PSL matches in the future, providing the tournament with an additional venue in the Middle East alongside the United Arab Emirates, which has previously hosted several editions of the league.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited Saudi Arabia in December 2024 and held meetings with Prince Saud bin Mishal Al-Saud, where discussions reportedly included building a new cricket facility and promoting the sport in the Kingdom.

The proposal remains at an early stage, with further approvals and planning required before construction can begin.
