The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dismissed rumours regarding the resignation of Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, calling them “baseless.”
A statement issued by the PCB on Monday denied reports suggesting that Naqvi would step down from his position after being appointed President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
The PCB media team addressed reports circulating over the weekend on some sport websites and social media platforms over weekend that Naqvi, due to increasing responsibilities especially following his assumption of the ACC presidency was considering stepping down from the PCB chairmanship.
Terming the reports “baseless”, an official of the board stated, “There is no truth to the reports about Mr Naqvi’s resignation. He is performing his duties as PCB Chairman and remains fully committed to the development of Pakistan cricket.”

Naqvi, who has also been serving as Interior Minister since the arrival of the Shehbaz Sharif-led coalition government, formally assumed the charge of ACC President a few days ago.
The official added that Naqvi holds dual roles as PCB Chairman and ACC President, stating that it's "not unusual", and that his effective time management would enable him to fulfil both responsibilities successfully.
He described Naqvi’s nomination as ACC president as “honour” for Pakistan, adding that he has no intention of leaving his position at the PCB.
Earlier, Sri Lanka’s Shammi Silva held the ACC President role for just three months, from December 2024 to March 2025.
