It was a tough outing for Pakistan’s star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi as he was smashed for four massive sixes by New Zealand’s Tim Seifert during the 2nd T20I in Dunedin on March 18.
Following the over, fans brutally trolled the left-arm pacer on social media, calling him overrated.
In the rain-affected match, reduced to 15 overs per side, Pakistan set a challenging target of 135 runs for the hosts. Shaheen made a quick contribution with the bat, scoring 22 off 14 balls, helping Pakistan add valuable runs at the end.
However, his performance with the ball was disappointing. He started strongly, bowling a maiden over to Seifert, troubling the Kiwi batter. But in his second over, things took a drastic turn.
Seifert smashed two consecutive sixes, exploiting Shaheen’s poor line and length. Despite trying to regain control in the next two deliveries, the onslaught resumed, and Seifert ended up taking him to the cleaners.
Shaheen finished the match wicketless, conceding 31 runs in 3 overs, and his expensive spell put New Zealand in the driver’s seat during the chase.
The poor bowling display triggered a wave of trolling on social media, with many fans questioning his hype and consistency in T20 cricket.
