Pakistan’s spinner Sufyan Muqeem made history on Tuesday, claiming remarkable bowling figures of 5/3 in 2.4 overs to bowl Zimbabwe out for just 57 in the second T20I of the series at Queens Sports Club.
Muqeem’s outstanding performance set a new record for the best bowling figures by a Pakistani bowler in T20Is, surpassing the previous record held by Umar Gul, who claimed 5/6.
Gul had achieved this feat twice, first in the 2009 T20 World Cup semifinal against New Zealand, and again in 2013 against South Africa.
Currently, Malaysia's Cesar Idris holds the record for the best-ever T20I figures with 7/8, followed by Singapore's H Bhardwaj, who took 6/3.
Zimbabwe’s total of 57 is their lowest in T20I cricket, and they have set Pakistan a target of just 58 runs to win the match.
With the win, Pakistan sealed an unassailable lead in the series, and the third and final T20I will be played on December 5 at the same venue.
