Following India’s refusal to visit Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, cricket experts and sports enthusiasts have criticised the BCCI for playing the spoilsport. PCB is likely to invite another team if India skips the tournament.

Sources reveal that the PCB plans to write to the ICC to seek concrete reasons behind the BCCI’s decision to refuse to play in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025.

Government sources have made it clear to the PCB that a Pakistan-India match is not feasible without both teams, emphasizing that the event's success depends not just on India’s presence, but also on Pakistan’s participation.

The government has advised the PCB that if India does not come to Pakistan, Pakistan will not play against India in any future ICC or Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events.

The government also instructed the PCB to take ICC officials into confidence, contact other cricket boards, and, if necessary, invite Sri Lanka or West Indies as replacements for India.

On Friday, the BCCI informed the ICC of its decision not to send its team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.

According to reports, the Indian government has not granted permission for the team to travel to Pakistan, leading to the possibility of the tournament being held under a hybrid model.

Government sources confirmed that the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan, and no hybrid model will be accepted.

India has not played a match in Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup, and no bilateral series have been held between the two countries since Pakistan’s tour of India in 2012-13. Last year, Pakistan was also supposed to host the Asia Cup, but India flatly refused to travel to Pakistan.

Cricket experts have slammed the BCCI’s stance, accusing the board of avoiding matches in Pakistan for political reasons, while other teams have raised no such objections.
