Qaseem Rahim is the pioneer of micro miniature art in Pakistan, a recipient of multiple presidential honors, and has exhibited his intricate work internationally. Speaking with Dialogue, he shared his disappointment that despite his remarkable achievements, his talent remains undervalued and underestimated in his homeland.
"In Pakistan, talented individuals are often left hopeless. They must struggle to prove themselves without any support. Some leave the country, while others simply lose their will like me," Qaseem said.
Determined to pass on his legacy, Qaseem is now training his son, Senan Rahim, in this unique art form. Senan is passionate about continuing his father’s work, but he acknowledges the challenges ahead, as visual arts—let alone miniature art—receive little recognition or support in Pakistan.
Watch our interview with this father-son duo, who showcase their fascinating miniature masterpieces, including calligraphy and paintings on grains of rice, beard hairs, and beans.
