A 10-year-old girl from Palestine, Renad Attalah, has found solace in cooking and sharing her recipes with the world amid Israel's bombardments in Gaza.
Despite the challenges of food shortages and internet suspensions, Renad's passion for cooking has inspired millions.
In her videos, she cooks meals using donated items as Gaza is facing severe food shortage due to Israel's siege.
"I have always loved cooking food but I did not know that I had this skill before the war started," she said while talking to Al-Jazeera.
Renad said that she tries to post her recipes on social media frequently as Gaza is also facing internet suspensions.
"Bombardment, warplanes, and drones, and the absence of internet are all obstacles. Whenever the internet service is back, I keep myself busy with my content and my posts."
Renad's sister, Nourhan Attalah, revealed that the idea to share Renad's cooking online started as "a way to lift her spirits during the war".
"We were trapped at home since the beginning of the war. We tried to do something to cheer Renad [up]. So, we started random filming of her cooking. The internet was restored after more than four months, then I posted her first clip, and the response was huge," she told the international publication,
With over half a million followers on Instagram, Renad's cooking videos have brought joy and inspiration to many.
"I am trying to escape the agony of war, bring joy to myself and others, and wash away grief and sadness," Renad said.
Israel's war on Gaza has killed over 14,000 children and tens of thousands more have been injured.
The population of Gaza has decreased from 2.3 million to 2.1 million during the nine months of the Israeli military offensive in the coastal enclave, according to recent estimates by the UN humanitarian community.
At least 38,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since October 7.
