A delivery rider from Pakistan, named Zeeshan Ahmed, has received an award from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai for his quick action in performing civic responsibilities.
Zeeshan, who has been living in Dubai for ten years, fixed a dangling traffic signal light on Dubai's Al Wasl Street. He was unaware that his service to the community was being recorded on camera.
"I was randomly riding at the spot when I suddenly noticed the broken signal. A panel of the signal was detached and dangling very dangerously. I realised this could harm passersby or other drivers, so I quickly parked my bike and strived to fix it. I had no idea that I was filmed and the video would be shared on a social media platform," said Zeeshan.
Two days after fixing the signal, Zeeshan's details and contact were obtained by RTA from Talabat, the company where he works as a delivery rider.
Zeeshan was invited to RTA headquarters and honoured with an award.
"Everyone treated me like a brother. They kept repeatedly thanking me for my service. I was so grateful for the recognition," he said.
