Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Muhammad Iqbal Khan, announced that Pakistanis can now apply for visas to Bangladesh online, following the relaxation of visa conditions by Dhaka, as reported by The News on Sunday.

During his visit to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the ambassador emphasized that the people of Bangladesh aspire to maintain a warm relationship with Pakistanis.

He also highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Iqbal Khan called for stronger economic and financial cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh, noting that the LCCI could play a pivotal role in boosting bilateral trade.

The development comes amid improving relations between the neighboring nations, especially after the appointment of Professor Muhammad Yunus as the interim Prime Minister of Bangladesh following the ousting of PM Sheikh Hasina.

Last month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Prof Yunus at the D-8 summit in Cairo, where they discussed exploring new opportunities for economic cooperation.

The two leaders focused on expanding trade in sectors such as chemicals, cement clinkers, surgical goods, leather goods, and IT.

PM Sharif also expressed his gratitude for Bangladesh’s recent steps to facilitate trade and travel, which include lifting the 100% physical inspection requirement for consignments from Pakistan and abolishing the special security desk at Dhaka airport previously designated for scrutinizing Pakistani passengers.
