Christopher Bradbury, a cancer survivor from the UK, has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new Guinness World Record for the most emojis formed by drones in three minutes.
Bradbury's drone show above Shropshire in June showcased an impressive 30 formations, surpassing the previous record of 24.
"I started flying model aircraft in 2007 as a kind of bucket list item while undergoing chemotherapy for cancer," Bradbury shared with Guinness World Records.
"It got me out of the house, which was great for my physical therapy and mental wellbeing."
Bradbury's passion for drones turned into a career, with him now doing aerial filming, surveying work, and experimenting with drone swarms.
“The trickier part was how to get them to transition into the next one and the next one," Bradbury explained.
“If you imagine I’ve got 100 of my drones up in the sky, and I’m trying to move all of them from one shape into the next shape without them colliding into each other.
“It takes a lot of three-dimensional spatial planning to make sure that all goes through safely.”
Bradbury hopes his record will inspire others. "I would love it if in 10 years' time, my record is smashed and it's done by someone who says 'I did it because I saw Chris Bradbury's video'. That would be amazing."
With 109 programmed drones, Bradbury's display featured a mix of winking faces and objects, including the eggplant, poop symbol, rocket, and magnet.
