The Colombian government has announced plans to assist up to 50 Palestinian children who have lost limbs due to Israel's bombing in Gaza.
Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo said that the government intends to bring the children to Colombia and provide them with prostheses, offering them a chance at a renewed life.
According to the program, children aged 12-15 will be flown from Egypt to Colombia, accompanied by a family member or guardian.
They will undergo six months of treatment and rehabilitation in the country.
Murillo confirmed that the plans are "quite advanced" and have been discussed with Egyptian and Jordanian officials.
The initiative aims to provide critical support to young victims of the one-sided war in Gaza.
Colombia will send a plane to transport the children and provide necessary aid to refugee camps in Egypt.
The program is expected to move forward, with agreements in place with Jordanian and Egyptian colleagues, according to Murillo.
“The plan up to now is that Colombia would be sending an aeroplane, bringing some support to Gaza or refugee camps in Egypt. We think that the plan can move forward, according to the agreements with our colleagues in Jordanian and Egypt,” he said.
The death toll of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip has reached 37,372, with at least 85,452 people injured in Israeli attacks since October 7.
