The Cuban Foreign Ministry on Saturday announced to join the case filed by South Africa at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel's war crimes in Gaza.

The development was shared by Cuba's Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez P, on his microblogging account X.

"Cuba has decided to participate as a Third State in South Africa's lawsuit against Israel before the ICJ and will argue the transgression of the Genocide Convention to the main judicial body of @ONU_es," he said in a post.

"We must put an end to the massacre against the people of Palestine," Bruno added.

“Israel, with total impunity, protected by the complicity of the US government, ignores its obligations as an Occupying Power under the Fourth Geneva Convention,” the ministry said in a statement.

“Genocide, apartheid, forced displacement and collective punishment have no place in today’s world, nor can they be tolerated by the international community. Justice and respect for the UN Charter and international law must prevail,” it added.

Israel has been bombing Gaza since October 7, 2023, killing, injuring and displacing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.

Palestine Health Ministry said that at least 37,372, have been killed in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

According to the ministry, as many as 82,959 people have also been wounded in the one-sided war.

As per the details provided by a publication, almost 174 Palestinians are being killed by Israel every day in the worn-torn region.
