Four Pakistani nationals have been sentenced to two years in prison and fined a collective AED 1 million for kidnapping and robbing two Indian citizens in Dubai.
Reports indicate the case was registered on March 29 this year under the jurisdiction of the Al Raffa Police Station.
Court records reveal that a Pakistani driver, along with three accomplices and another individual who remains at large, orchestrated the crime after learning the Indian victims were carrying a substantial sum of money.
According to the investigation, on the morning of March 29, the driver informed his accomplices of the victims’ location as they headed towards Dubai's Gold Souq.
The suspects intercepted the victims’ vehicle near Al Mankhool, where two posed as police officers and forced the victims into separate cars under false pretenses.
The victims were taken to Al Nahda, where the gang stole AED 1 million, two phones, and wallets before releasing them.
After the victims filed a police complaint, Dubai Police apprehended five suspects involved in the case.
One of the accused, a fifth Pakistani man, denied involvement during the investigation and trial, and the court eventually cleared him due to a lack of evidence.
During the trial, the court reviewed confessions from the primary suspects, witness statements, and police investigations, concluding that the driver had informed the gang about the victims' cash and movements.
The investigation also identified one suspect as the gang leader, while two others impersonated police officers during the robbery.
The court ruled that the convicted individuals would be deported following the completion of their prison terms.
