Authorities in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, India, arrested four Muslims for offering prayers inside a private property without permission.

Indian officials claimed that an illegal mosque was being constructed on the site. The incident came to light after a video was shared on social media.

According to Indian media, a police officer stated that more than 20 individuals were offering prayers in a temporary tin shed in Jam Sawant North village without obtaining official permission. The shed was reportedly set up on private land.

A case has been registered against seven identified individuals and several unidentified others for allegedly constructing the mosque without official approval.

Furthermore, the group is accused of organizing a prayer gathering despite restrictions on large assemblies due to upcoming festivals and Republic Day celebrations. Some of the accused remain at large.

The incident gained attention after a Hindu group posted a video of the location on social media. Following an investigation, police verified the allegations and filed a case at Baheri Police Station against the individuals for violating government orders.

Station Officer Sanjay Tomar stated, "We have arrested four individuals, including Mohammad Shahid, the brother of the village leader, on charges of disturbing the peace."

The site has since been sealed, according to police reports. Jam Sawant village is predominantly Muslim, and police have been deployed in the area to ensure security and prevent any untoward incidents.
