PARIS: French media outlets have raised serious concerns over the Indian government's alleged manipulation of facts surrounding the Pahalgam incident, accusing New Delhi of using artificial intelligence and fake content to shape a false narrative against Pakistan.
According to French media reports, old videos and unrelated images were deliberately circulated on social media with official Indian backing, portraying them as real-time evidence from the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 tourists were killed.
One such example cited is the misrepresentation of a couple’s old video, falsely linked to the victims.
The reports highlight how Indian news channels broadcast unverified footage, including false associations with a man identified as Lieutenant Noorul, who had no proven link to the incident.
Victims of the fake news reportedly came forward themselves to debunk the fabricated narratives.

French journalists noted that the content shared lacked any credible source or verification, which they deemed a clear indication of propaganda and misinformation.
This development comes as Pakistan continues to call for an international and impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident, an offer India has yet to acknowledge.
Meanwhile, China, Türkiye, and Switzerland have expressed support for Pakistan’s stance, urging a fact-based and transparent inquiry.
Following China, Türkiye has also strongly backed Pakistan, condemning India’s aggressive posture and warning against the regional implications of such false flag operations and fake media campaigns.
