Gaza couple marries amidst devastation due to Israeli assault

A Palestinian couple tied the knot amidst the ruins of Gaza and celebrated their union despite ongoing Israeli atrocities in the besieged enclave.

The newlyweds, Maha and Muawiyah, donned their wedding clothes and walked through the debris, symbolising the undying hope and determination of Palestinians to reclaim their right to live on their land.

In a heartwarming video, Muawiyah was seen carefully carrying the train of Maha's wedding gown to keep it from snagging on the rubble.

The couple shared the video on their Instagram accounts, along with donation links to fund their evacuation from the Gaza Strip, which remains under relentless bombardment by the Israeli occupation army.

Author Roberta Lippi, who is vocal against Israeli genocide in Gaza, highlighted Maha and Muawiyah's story on Instagram, urging her followers to donate to their cause.

“Maha told me that yesterday was a special day with her new husband,” she wrote in her post.

Although Maha and Muawiyah are not the first couple to marry amid Israeli military offensive and many have wed in makeshift camps due to displacement, but their resolve to continue with life despite the dreadful situation in Gaza is truly inspirational.

Many on social media have admired the couple’s resilience amidst the destruction and chaos.

The Israeli attacks have killed at least 38,000 civilians and wiped out entire families, resulting in horrific living conditions in Gaza.
