Hamas signals conditional willingness to lay down arms

The Palestinian resistance organization Hamas has expressed its conditional willingness to lay down its arms against the occupying Zionist forces in the Palestinian territories.

According to the report of the Arab media, Hamas has announced that if the occupation of Gaza by the Israeli army ends, it is ready to hand over its weapons to a Palestinian Authority that will take over the rule of this area.

This announcement was made by the senior negotiator of Hamas and the head of Hamas, Khalil al-Hiya, in a statement.

According to the report, he has said that our arms are linked to possession and presence of aggression. If possession ends, these weapons will be handed over under state authority.

In response to questions from AFP, Khalil al-Hiya's office clarified that he was referring to a sovereign and independent Palestinian state.

The Hamas leader added that we accept the deployment of UN forces as a separation force to monitor the borders and ensure the implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza.
