In a disturbing incident, Hindutva groups harassed a 15-year-old Muslim boy in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, while he was returning home from school. They allegedly forced him to urinate on a Pakistani flag placed on the ground, while police officers present at the scene failed to intervene.

Indian Muslims continue to face increasing violence and harassment across the country, with reports emerging from various cities of targeted attacks by Hindutva groups, often operating with impunity under the patronage of the ruling party.

According to The Times of India, the incident occurred in Rasoolganj, where Hindutva groups had called for a local strike.

Between 2 and 3 pm, a Class 9 student on his way home spotted Pakistani flags strewn on the ground. When he picked one up, he was confronted by a group of extremists.

The boy was allegedly dragged by the collar, threatened, and forced to chant slogans like "Hindustan Zindabad" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai."

As per reports, the boy was then compelled to re-stick the flag to the ground and urinate on it. The assailants also forced him to apologise with folded hands.

Shockingly, the incident took place near the Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Aligarh city, yet law enforcement officials failed to protect the minor or act against the perpetrators.

After public outcry, police claimed that an investigation is underway. “We’ve taken cognisance of the matter. It is being probed. The boy has been called to provide details, and further steps will be taken based on his statement,” a police spokesperson told the media.

The victim, whose father is a daily-wage laborer, told local residents that he was walking with friends when he was told that something was pasted on the ground.

Upon attempting to pick it up, he was surrounded and assaulted by the mob.
