According to a report by Gulf News, authorities in Saudi Arabia have implemented a ban on serving iftar banquets within mosques across the kingdom during Ramadan.
Additionally, mosque imams are now prohibited from collecting donations to provide iftar meals to worshippers during this sacred month. These measures are part of a broader set of guidelines established by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Call in preparation for Ramadan.
The rationale behind the ban on serving iftar inside mosques is to maintain cleanliness within these sacred spaces. Instead, the ministry has directed that iftar banquets should be hosted at designated locations within mosque courtyards.
Moreover, the use of cameras inside mosques for filming the imam during prayers or capturing worshippers while broadcasting prayers through various media platforms has also been banned.
In conjunction with these restrictions, there is an emphasis on streamlining religious practices during Ramadan. Imams are encouraged to refrain from prolonging Taraweeh prayers and to focus their sermons on topics beneficial to worshippers, particularly emphasizing the rules of fasting and the virtues of the holy month of Ramadan.
These efforts aim to ensure a conducive and spiritually enriching environment for worshippers throughout this significant period of devotion and reflection.
