As the world acknowledges Pakistan’s efforts in brokering a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, India has continued its guarded stance towards Pakistan.
While welcoming the ceasefire, New Delhi refrained from mentioning Pakistan or explicitly naming the parties involved — the US and Iran — in its statement on efforts to stabilise the Middle East.

The United States and Iran have agreed to a two-week ceasefire, with talks to finalise a peace deal set to begin in Pakistan’s Islamabad on Friday.
The truce, announced by US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, will also see Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime corridor through which a fifth of the world’s oil supply passes.
The ceasefire that was brokered by Pakistan has been hailed a victory by both sides. Donald Trump repeated the claim that the war has achieved regime change in Iran, while officials in Tehran said the general principles “desired” by Iran were accepted in the ceasefire deal.
