Israeli media has denied reports that Army Chief Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi was killed in a Hezbollah drone attack on a military base in northern Israel.
The attack, which occurred recently, resulted in the deaths of four Israeli soldiers and injured over 60 others, making it the largest attack on the Israeli military since October 7, 2023 .
According to Arab media, the drone, which originated from Lebanon, targeted the Israeli army's Golan Brigade training base, where soldiers were gathered in the mess hall at the time of the attack.
Following the attack, various social media accounts claimed that the Israeli Army Chief was also killed in the drone strike. However, Israeli media has dismissed these reports as false and labeled them as rumors.
It's worth noting that the Israeli Army Chief, Herzi Halevi, visited the affected base after the attack and met with the Israeli soldiers present there, contradicting claims of his death.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have not issued an official statement on the matter.
Hezbollah’s drones were low-tech, primitive devices that bypassed early warning alarms in northern Israel.
From October 7, 2023, to October 4, 2024, at least 12,054 attacks have been exchanged between Lebanon and Israel, with 9,891 initiated by Israel, according to the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data (ACLED).
