Israel held responsible for nearly half of journalists killed worldwide in 2025

Israel, already declared by journalists to be the worst enemy of press freedom, has accounted for almost half of this year’s killings of journalists around the world.
As per the Reporters Without Borders (RSF) annual report, published earlier this month, of 67 journalists killed around the world, Israel accounted for 29 killings in Gaza.

The media arm of the Basij paramilitary forces -- a branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps -- said the death toll among media workers had risen to 12 following the identification of two additional individuals, the IRNA news agency reported.
