An Israeli airstrike on Syria has claimed the life of Hassan Jaafar al-Qasir, the son-in-law of Hezbollah's former leader, Hassan Nasrallah.
According to Arab media reports, al- Qasir was a senior Hezbollah member and commander of Unit 4400.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that Hassan Jaafar al-Qasir was among two Lebanese victims of the Israeli raid, which targeted an apartment in a residential building in Damascus's Mazze district.
A source close to Hezbollah also verified the information to AFP.
"Hassan Jaafar al-Qasir, the son-in-law of Hassan Nasrallah, was among two Lebanese victims of the Israeli raid which targeted an apartment in a residential building in the Mazze district of Damascus," claimed the source to the publication.
Qaiser had arrived in the Syrian capital just a day prior to the airstrike. His brother, Mohammad Jaffar Qaiserr, was also killed in an airstrike yesterday.
Israel claimed that Mohammad Jaffar was closely tied to Iran and responsible for transporting weapons from Iran.
Syrian state TV reported that three people were martyred and three injured in the Israeli attack on the residential building, but did not disclose identities.
This area of Syria has seen previous Israeli attacks, including the assassinations of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps chief and his deputy in January this year.
Earlier on September 28, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut.
Later, Lebanon's resistance group confirmed Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's assassination in a statement.
The organisation's statement described Nasrallah as "the Master of Resistance, the righteous servant" who "has passed away to be with his Lord."
The group pledged to continue its fight, saying, "We will continue our jihad in confronting the enemy, in support of Gaza and Palestine, and in defense of Lebanon and its steadfast and honorable people."
Hezbollah offered condolences to Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the Islamic nation, and Nasrallah's family.
"We offer our condolences and congratulations to his fellow martyrs who joined his pure and holy procession."
Hezbollah's leadership assured that the mujahideen will remain committed to Nasrallah's legacy.
"You are the trust of the beloved martyr Sayyid [Nasrallah]."
