Israeli media reports indicate that Prime Minister Netanyahu's security cabinet has 'opposed' a proposed plan to retaliate against an Iranian missile attack on Israeli-occupied territories.

According to Al Jazeera, the security cabinet convened on Thursday night to discuss Iran's October 1 missile operation but ultimately decided against an immediate response, with Channel 13 citing a security source confirming the delay.

Iran launched approximately 180 missiles at Israel, which it claimed was in retaliation for the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, and an Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander.

The Israeli army later acknowledged that the strikes caused damage to several air bases.

Netanyahu had discussions with U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris regarding Israel's potential course of action against Iran.

Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that any Israeli retaliation would be “lethal, precise, and especially surprising.”

This comes at a time of heightened regional tensions, driven by Israel's ongoing military offensive in Gaza, which has reportedly resulted in over 42,000 deaths, mostly women and children, following a Hamas attack last year.
