The Israeli military has further tightened mobile phone usage rules for senior officers by imposing a ban on the use of Android phones.
According to Israeli media, under the new directive, all commanders holding the rank of lieutenant colonel and above will be permitted to use only Apple iPhones for official communication.
The media reports state that the purpose of this move is to reduce the risk of potential hacking or infiltration into the mobile phones of senior officers.
The new guidelines aim to ensure that all official mobile phones at higher levels operate on a unified system, making security controls, updates, and monitoring easier to manage.
According to Israeli media, security officials have already been warning soldiers about the dangers of hacking. In the past, the Israeli army revealed that Hamas used WhatsApp to obtain information from soldiers deployed along the Gaza border.
It is worth mentioning that earlier, the Israeli army had begun recalling Chinese-made vehicles used by its officers.
According to Israeli media, this step was taken on the direct orders of the Chief of Staff due to concerns that Chinese vehicles could be used to leak sensitive information or conduct espionage.
Security agencies in Israel, in their assessment reports, stated that onboard systems in some Chinese vehicles could potentially transmit sensitive data to external servers.
