The mediators involved in the ceasefire negotiation between Hamas and Israel have proposed a plan that calls for an end to Israeli aggression and a complete withdrawal from Gaza.

According to BBC, the proposed plan would involve a five to seven-year truce, the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, a formal end to the conflict, and a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

The proposal is expected to be discussed with the Hamas delegation in Cairo, although details have not yet been disclosed.

Earlier, the US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee had called on Hamas to accept a deal that would secure the release of hostages in exchange for the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

"We call upon Hamas to sign an agreement so that humanitarian aid can flow into Gaza to the people who desperately need it," Huckabee said in a video statement on X.

It is pertinent to mention here that Hamas had rejected the Israeli ceasefire offer, stating that the proposal did not guarantee an end to the war and they were urging for the disarmament of Gaza, both of the points are red lines for Hamas.

Hamas refused to give up its weapons, saying, “We want a comprehensive package.”

Under Israel's proposal, Hamas would disclose information about living Israeli hostages in return for information on Palestinian detainees, and Israel would exchange the remains of 160 Palestinian deceased for the bodies of 16 Israeli hostages.

Israel's plan calls for a 45-day ceasefire period to pave the way for talks on a permanent truce.
