Riyadh Mansour, the Palestinian representative to the United Nations, has called on member countries, particularly the U.S. and Western nations, to cease selling and delivering weapons to Israel.
During a UN Security Council meeting, Mansour urged for sanctions against Israel and a halt in arms exports to the country, especially from those advocating for a ceasefire.
He condemned Israel for its alleged crimes, stating that the lack of international consequences has emboldened Israel to continue its aggression and escalate the conflict.
Mansour highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where he claims that medical staff and civilians are being targeted, leaving the population without essential care.
Additionally, Mansour criticized Israel’s threat to halt the operations of the UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency) in the occupied Palestinian territories, which provides aid to Palestinian refugees.
He emphasized the international community's failure to compel Israel to adhere to Security Council resolutions that call for an end to hostilities.
The Security Council recently passed a U.S.-backed resolution on ceasing hostilities in Gaza, which Hamas welcomed, receiving 14 votes in favor, with Russia abstaining.
