The late Queen Elizabeth II’s relationship with Israel was reportedly strained, according to former Israeli President Reuven Rivlin.
Speaking at a gala event in London on Sunday, Rivlin shared that the queen held a negative view of Israelis, believing that “every one of us was either a terrorist or a son of a terrorist.”
He added that she refused to host any Israeli officials at Buckingham Palace, except for international events.
Rivlin, who served as Israel's president from 2014 to 2021, stated that these comments reflected his personal experiences and observations.
Rivlin contrasted Queen Elizabeth’s stance with that of King Charles, whom he described as "so friendly" in comparison. King Charles has long been known for his nuanced views on the Middle East, and his remarks on Israel and Palestine have occasionally stirred controversy.
In 1986, a letter surfaced in which Charles questioned Israel's policies, drawing ire from Israeli officials. However, in recent years, King Charles has publicly affirmed Britain’s commitment to a two-state solution.
