Ramadan moon 2026 sighted in Saudi Arabia, first fast on Wednesday

The Ramadan crescent was sighted in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, 17 February, meaning the first fast will be observed on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
According to the official Saudi Press Agency (Saudi Press Agency), the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia announced in a statement that Wednesday, 18 February 2026, will mark the beginning of Ramadan 1447 Hijri.
It is worth noting that the Supreme Court had earlier called upon Muslims across the Kingdom to sight the Ramadan moon on the evening of Tuesday, 17 February.
The statement requested that anyone who observed the crescent, either with the naked eye or through binoculars, should record their testimony at the nearest judicial office.
Tuesday, 17 February, corresponded to 29 Sha’ban according to the Umm al-Qura calendar.
