Recent claims by foreign media suggesting Saudi Arabia plans to permit alcohol sales starting in 2026 have been denied by informed sources in the Kingdom.

The sources confirmed there has been no official statement or policy shift supporting these reports.

“These claims lack any official confirmation from relevant authorities and do not reflect existing policies or regulations in Saudi Arabia,” the sources told Arab News.

Saudi Arabia, while expanding its tourism sector under Vision 2030, remains committed to providing a culturally immersive experience without compromising its traditions. The current tourism model continues to attract international visitors keen to explore the Kingdom’s heritage and natural diversity.

On the topic of alcohol regulations concerning non-Muslim diplomats, officials clarified that a new framework has been implemented to control diplomatic shipments.

Under this system, embassies of non-Muslim countries are no longer allowed to import alcohol and certain restricted items through diplomatic channels. However, controlled access remains available under strict regulations to prevent misuse.
