Saudi authorities are building dedicated resting areas for pilgrims at key locations in Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah, aiming to provide comfort and facilities to millions during the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
The recommendations were shared during the briefing with Deputy Governor Makkah Saud bin Mihak.
According to the concerned department, the project was part of the preparation for the upcoming Hajj season.
An official stated that they are constructing 50,000 square meters of shaded walkways for pedestrians in Mina and installing 60,000 square meters of shelters with misting fans around Jabal al-Rahmah in Arafat.
The sheds and fans are being installed on walkways to provide comfort and protection to pilgrims amid the high temperatures expected during the Hajj rituals.
Hajj scam alert: Saudi Arabia alerts public to rising fraud ahead of pilgrimage
Earlier, Saudi authorities had allowed Pakistani pilgrims to perform Hajj under a special quota.
In a statement the Ministry of Information stated that Pakistan had requested a special quota for pilgrims who were unable to submit their applications on time, which was accepted by the Saudi Minister, permitting 10,000 more to perform Hajj.
Notably, the Pakistani government permitted tour operators to transfer funds to Saudi Arabia starting January 10, while Saudi Arabia set a final booking deadline of February 14.
Despite these arrangements, non-compliance by private operators led to the forfeiture of thousands of slots. Under the 2025 Hajj agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, a total of 179,210 Pakistani pilgrims were expected to perform Hajj this year.
