A swarm of honeybees attacked Israel Defense Forces (IDF) personnel in Gaza, leaving twelve soldiers injured, the local media reported on Saturday.
According to The Times of Israel, the incident happened when a military tank ran over a beehive in the southern Gaza Strip.
The publication said that twelve soldiers were shifted to Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv after they suffered injuries in the bees' attack.
One of the troops transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU), who was severely injured after being stung by an angry swarm of wasps.
The publication, quoting hospital administration, said that some of the Israeli soldiers were stung by hundreds of bees and suffered allergic reactions and that "doctors had never dealt with such a mass incident before".
“Intensive care, anesthesia, toxicological treatment, ophthalmologists and anyone that is needed” were involved in treating the patients," the hospital added.
Israel has been bombing Gaza for almost seven months, causing many human lives and billions of dollars in damage.
According to data shared by Palestinian authorities, nearly 80,000 homes have been destroyed by the Israeli military since October 7.
Over 35,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 78,000 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza.
